Carleton College announced on Wednesday that Alison Byerly will become its 12th president, effective Aug. 1.
“I want to congratulate Alison on behalf of the entire Lafayette community,” said board chair Bob Sell ’84. “This announcement is a testament to Alison‘s success as our president since 2013. It also attests to Lafayette’s achievements, strengths, and potential at this pivotal moment in the College’s trajectory.”
Ranked among the nation’s top liberal arts colleges, Carleton is located in Northfield, Minn.
Alison announced Oct. 6 that she would step down as Lafayette’s president when her current contract ends on June 30. A profile in Lafayette magazine highlights her accomplishments as the College’s 17th president.
Lafayette’s search for its 18th president should conclude by the end of May, said Sell.
