Attrition rates among engineering majors are too high, according to Christian Lopez, assistant professor of computer science, in part because students don’t see the curricula as relevant. In addition, graduates don’t fully understand their role as engineers or the scope of their field. He and his research partners with support from an NSF grant are developing Connected Learning and Integrated Course Knowledge (CLICK) to remedy this, using virtual reality to provide an integrative learning experience. Lopez will give a presentation on CLICK in June at the American Society for Engineering Education Conference. Watch a video about CLICK and consider voting for it in the STEM For All Video Showcase.
