Three actors on stage in Brian Friel's Translations

Brian Friel’s Translations

While theaters, cinemas, and concert halls around the world have suspended operations for the time being, here at Lafayette we’re taking the show online! The fall 2020 virtual performance series opens with “Theater on Thursdays,” a new, free program created exclusively for the Lafayette community.

Curated and presented by the Department of Theater and the Williams Center for the Arts, “Theater on Thursdays” features outstanding productions from London’s National Theatre recorded before a live audience and streamed in HD.

Each “Theater on Thursdays” event includes a pre-show talk beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Lafayette College scholars and other specialists. On Sept. 10, Michael O’Neill, associate professor of theater and an authority on Irish literature and drama, will talk about playwright Brian Friel in advance of the 7 p.m. performance of Friel’s 1980 masterwork, Translations.
