Much Ado About Nothing on Sept. 18-20 is a completely student-produced and student-directed show co-sponsored by Alpha Psi Omega Theater Honor Society and Arts Society. Directed by Lizzie Gumula ’22, this production has used Zoom to pre-record a full-length version of the Bard’s beloved rom-com and has edited it to look just like an old Hollywood movie. Set in the 1940s, the production also features costumes from College Theater’s stock, which were shipped out to actors all over the country.
This is the first full-length theatrical production either organization has ever sponsored, and the first time they are co-sponsoring. Over 20 students (including five first-year students who auditioned before classes started) are involved in this production, including the cast, production team, executive board, and musicians. This is the first theatrical event of the 2020-21 school year.
The play will be presented Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. Following Sunday’s performance, there will be a company talkback moderated by Prof. Michael O’Neill. Tickets are free. Optional donations can be made to the Arts Society Music Scholarship Fund and the Williams Center for the Arts Theater Angels. A Vimeo link will be emailed 24 hours prior to showtime. The talkback link will be included in every ticket purchase.
