Lauren Leydon-Hardy, assistant professor of philosophy at Amherst College, will speak on the positive account of epistemic agency in her paper “Epistemic Agency and the Deep Self” on Friday at 12:15 p.m. Her research program is centered on the norms that govern our social world and how they shape our epistemic lives. Leydon-Hardy has recently published work on the ways in which these norms can be abused and eroded in ways that harm us specifically in our capacities as epistemic agents. This event is sponsored by the Louise M. Olmsted Fund for Ethics. Register.
