McKelvy House invites you to a campus-wide discussion with presenters Shirley Liu ’23 and Fatimata Cham ’23 about the Electoral College’s history, consequences, and ultimate necessity on Monday at 7 p.m. From the organizers: “The 2016 election left us with many questions about this archaic institution: How could the popular vote not prevail in a democracy? How does the Electoral College even work? And how can we move forward as a country with such a huge flaw in our Constitution? We hope to not only address the confusing aspects of the Electoral College, but also to analyze its more widespread and pernicious implications, such as its contributions to voter suppression.”
