Helicopter-based Met-Ed inspections

This week Met-Ed is beginning routine comprehensive visual inspections on its 500kV transmission lines. They are anticipated to take two to three weeks, but inclement weather or outage patrols may extend the effort. The helicopter used for this is a black Hughes MD500 with registration number ND027P. During the inspection of each structure with its associated hardware and conductors, the helicopter moves slowly and hovers. Be safe and allow these crews significant distance to do their work.
