While theaters, cinemas, and concert halls around the world have suspended operations for the time being, here at Lafayette the show goes on—online, that is. The spring 2021 virtual performance series opens with Theater on Thursdays, a free series created exclusively for our students, faculty, and staff.
Curated by the Department of Theater and the Williams Center for the Arts, Theater on Thursdays features outstanding productions from London’s National Theatre recorded before a live audience and streamed in HD.
Each event includes a pre-show talk at 6:30 p.m. with a Lafayette scholar. Today, Ian Smith, professor of English and Richard H. ’60 and Joan K. Sell Chair in the Humanities, will offer an introduction to the themes in Small Island in advance of the 7 p.m. performance.
The schedule:
Feb. 18 – Small Island (2019) by Andrea Levy and Helen Edmundson; production 2019
6:30 p.m. – pre-show talk by Ian Smith, Department of English
