The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Contrary to the book’s title, this is not a simple, sparkling tale about a Hollywood starlet’s ill-fated romances. The fictional movie star Evelyn Hugo had a much more complicated life than the media knew, and this book uncovers the stories and secrets behind her many love affairs. The book features intriguing characters, LGBTQ+ and feminist themes, and plenty of plot twists. It’s one of my favorite books to reread, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys drama or romance! —Shirley Liu ’23
