If you like historical fiction and WWII, you need to read Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark T. Sullivan this summer. I found this book fascinating, exciting, and sad all at the same time. This book is based on a true story full of suspense, love, courage, and many interesting historical facts of Pino Lella’s journey from the underground railroad in the Swiss Alps to being a spy for the Allies as the personal driver for General Leyersm. I typically do not choose this genre to read, but I now recommend this book to everyone. Filled with non-stop action, you will not be able to put this one down. Once finished, do not be surprised that you will dig deeper to learn even more about the lives of Pino and the general. —Karen Howell, associate director of recreation services
