Rocco “Rocky” Vonelli died on Sunday at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus.
He worked in the receiving department for Bon Appetit. His father, Rocco, is an electrician with Facilities Operations.
“Rocco Vonnelli has been a staple for Lafayette dining in Upper Farinon for more than 10 years. ‘Rocky’ or ‘Rock,’ as he was known, was one of the most reliable employees for Dining Services, only missing a handful of days during his tenure,” says Chris Brown, general manager, Bon Appetit. “If you were ever in the kitchen of Upper Farinon during the day, you couldn’t have missed Rocky’s smiling face.”
Rocky started his career in the ware-washing room. He most recently was promoted to a storeroom receiver position and was learning campus deliveries and small prep work in the kitchen.
“Rocky’s dedication, loyalty, hard work, and personality helped make Upper Farinon dining a great place,” says Chris. “When Rocky wasn’t working, he most definitely was enjoying conversations with his coworkers over a slice of pizza about the Philadelphia Eagles or most recently his workouts with his father. Rocco will truly be missed.”
More information about his life and next week’s services as well as an opportunity to read and leave condolences are in his obituary.
