Maaza Mengiste, the 2021 Closs Writer-in-Residence, will give a reading 7 p.m. Thursday via Zoom.
Twenty signed copies of her work will be raffled.
Mengiste is author The Shadow King, which was shortlisted for the 2020 Booker Prize, and a recipient of the American Academy of Arts & Letters Award in Literature, as well as an LA Times Books Prize finalist. It was chosen as one of the best books of 2019 by The New York Times, NPR, Time, Elle, and others. Beneath the Lion’s Gaze, her debut, was selected by The Guardian as one of the 10 best contemporary African books.
