Volunteers are still needed for the spring 2022 semester to call students in isolation to ensure they’re getting what they need, know what resources are available, and feel less isolated. Please Email Kathy Kaneps for more information or to volunteer.
“This my third semester volunteering as an Isolation Buddy. I’ve really enjoyed reaching out to these students, many of whom I might not have met otherwise during their time at Lafayette. It’s rewarding to feel like I’m helping a student, at a minimum, to break up the monotony of isolation – we often laugh about what they’re watching on Netflix, or I’ll share suggestions – and in some cases, help reassure a student who may be anxious and lonely that Lafayette is thinking of them and that there’s someone they can reach out to if they need help. I’ve especially felt uplifted by my interactions with some of my buddies who shared their positive outlooks and expressed appreciation for the contact with me. Join the group of volunteers and learn for yourself how rewarding it can be!”
