Applications are open now through Oct. 6 for Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships. The prestigious scholarships are offered to students who wish to study abroad and are receiving, or are eligible for, a Federal Pell Grant.
“These scholarships are competitive and open a lot of doors,” says Rochelle Keesler, director of the Office of International and Off-Campus Education. “Now is the time to start on that application.”
Keesler notes that those who go through the program form a lifelong network of peers. In the spring, four Lafayette students were chosen as Gilman Scholarship recipients.
Applications open twice a year for the prestigious Gilman Scholarships, which are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Recipients can receive scholarships of up to $5,000 to study abroad from winter 2023 to spring 2024.
Who can apply? To apply, a student must be a U.S. citizen and receive, or be eligible for, a Federal Pell Grant.
Next steps: Any student who wants to learn more or is interested in applying should contact Rochelle Keesler.
