Gender & Sexuality Programs and the Office of Alumni Relations invite LGBTQIA+ identified seniors to apply for recognition through the 2023 Lavender Graduation.
The event recognizes graduating Lafayette College students who have made historical and significant contributions to raising the visibility, inclusion, and well-being of LGBTQIA+ identified people either within the campus or the larger communities.
Students, faculty, and staff can nominate students to be recognized as the 2023 class of Lavender Graduates.
Nominations will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Lafayette Lavender graduates are students who have made significant contribution to one or more of the following:
1. Raising the visibility, creating community, and/or celebrating the diversity of identifies of the LGBTQIA+ community within the campus or larger communities.
2. Improving the well-being, health, safety, and/or sense of belonging for LGBTQIA+ persons within the campus or larger communities.
3. Promoting the meaningful inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community at Lafayette through efforts to enhance equity, advocate for reform, and/or reconcile past injustices.
4. Achieving noteworthy professional, academic, or personal success as a LGBTQIA+ identified member of the Lafayette College community.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Fri., April 21. Please email a letter of nomination explaining how the student exemplifies the stated criteria and is deserving of this recognition to Thomas Lee at leeth@lafayette.edu. Self-nominations are welcome and highly encouraged.
The 2023 Class of Lafayette Lavender graduates and guests will be invited to participate at the Lavender Graduation at 4:30 p.m. Fri., May 5.
