Work is ongoing this summer for the building access project, which enhances safety and security across campus. This project will provide new ID cards for faculty, staff, and students to coordinate with the building fob readers that are being replaced across campus.

The new ID cards—Pard Cards—will introduce a one-card system, capable of being used for door access, dining services, and transactions on/off campus, and ultimately provide contactless credentials. They will eliminate the need for fobs for buildings on campus. The timeline for card distribution is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Students:

Residence Life will distribute Pard Cards to students during room key pickup.

Employees:

Faculty and staff will pick up their new ID cards at the College Store. To expedite the process, each department will have a scheduled pickup window. Please be patient and allow a few minutes to activate your new card. After receiving their new ID card, each employee will receive a coupon for 25% off an item at the College Store. Fobs will remain active until the new ID card has been activated.

Card Distribution Schedule:

(10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day)

  • Aug 6: Student Life, ITS, Inclusion
  • Aug 7: Enrollment, Advancement
  • Aug 8: Communications, Athletics
  • Aug 13: Finance/Administration
  • Aug 14: Academics
  • Aug 15: Academics

Contactless credentials:

The goal of the project is to transition to a tap-based credential, which can be used for building access and transactions (dining, College Store, off-campus merchants, etc.). While physical ID cards will remain for some time, the new offering will modernize how to access buildings, offer tap for dining meal plans, and more secure replacement for lost credentials. More details will be communicated prior to the rollout of this contactless option, and physical ID cards will remain active throughout the transition.

Questions:

If you have any questions throughout this transition, please contact the ID Office at idoffice@lafayette.edu.
