Happy first week of classes! The start of the semester can be hectic, but there are plenty of wonderful activities available on campus to ease the transition back to school. Here are five things to do this week.

  1. Welcome Back Breakfast at Skillman: Skillman is hosting a breakfast on the patio, featuring grab-and-go breakfast foods, coffee, and a chance to learn more about the staff and services at the library. Swing by Skillman Tuesday morning to uncover what the library has to offer while grabbing refreshments. The event is free while supplies last. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tues., Aug. 27 • Skillman Library patio • MORE
  2. LaFarmstand: Visit LaFarmstand for student-grown, chemical-free vegetables, herbs, and flowers for a rate of pay-what-you-wish. Check out Lafayette Today for details on what’s in each week’s produce basket. Walk to the parking lot across from Wawa on Cattell Street to support LaFarm. 2:30-5:30 p.m. Fri., Aug. 30 • 228 Cattell St. • MORE
  3. Gateway & Go: Start off the semester strong by dropping by the Gateway Career Center for a quick meeting with a Gateway peer advisor or a Gateway career counselor in person at 201 Hogg Hall or virtually via zoom (see links in calendar) to have your professional documents reviewed and/or ask your career questions. Gateway & Go hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, and 2-4 p.m. Thursdays. MORE
  4. Field hockey vs. Vermont: Don’t miss field hockey’s home opener as Lafayette hosts Vermont for the first game of the season. The team placed second in the Patriot League last year after a hard-fought season and is ready to start its season strong. Show your Lafayette support at Metzgar Fields Friday night. 6-8 p.m. Fri., Aug. 30 • Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex • MORE
  5. Easton Farmers’ Market: Start the school year fresh and explore local venues and produce downtown at the historic Easton Farmers’ Market (EFM). As a producer-only market, all products are locally produced or grown. Themes vary from week to week, and this Saturday is Funky Ferments Fest. Outside of the special event, the farmers market has it all—from coffee and pastries, to produce, and more. Take a Saturday morning trip downtown and enjoy more of what Easton has to offer! 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., Aug. 31 • Scott Park, Larry Holmes Drive • MORE
