Rising authoritarianism over the past two decades have led to fears that we may be entering a period of illiberal democracy as democratic rights, minority protection, and the rule of law fall into retreat. This year’s Class of 1961 International Speakers Series speakers conduct research at the cutting edge of ethnic politics, democracy, authoritarianism, and the rule of law, and are therefore well positioned to help us make sense of the state and potential future of democracy, rights, and the rule of law around the world. Come join the International Affairs Program for two engaging presentations followed by a student and faculty panel discussion of the state of democracy on the eve of the 2024 U.S. election. 4:156 p.m. Fri., Nov. 1 Oechsle Hall Room 224MORE
