The risks of accidental fentanyl poisoning, which causes numerous deaths in the United States every year, have prompted colleges and universities to make Naloxone (Narcan) available to reduce the chance of harm, because this medicine rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. Consistent with national best practice, and thanks to a partnership between the College and local community organization Fake is Real, effective this Fri., Dec. 6, Lafayette students will have access to free Naloxone through a box installed in the lower level of the Farinon Center.

Each box of this free medicine will contain two doses of life-saving Naloxone that can be sprayed into the nose in an opioid emergency. The QR code on the box provides a link to more detailed directions. The College has no knowledge of student misuse of opioids, but like many other institutions is taking this step as a matter of precaution and because Naloxone cannot cause harm if administered to someone who does not need it. If you or someone you know needs help with opioids, please contact Bailey Health Center at 610-330-5001 for local care or access national resources online.
