Each semester the Office of Intercultural Development (OID) coordinates keynote speakers, events, and shares resources to build awareness around heritage months.

For spring 2025, efforts are underway to plan events around:

  • Black History Month: Feb. 1-28
  • Women’s History Month: March 1-31
  • Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month: May 1-31

Is your class, department, or club planning an event for one of these months?

Planning ahead will ensure your event will be included as part of the month’s coverage through channels such as news.lafayette.edu, the College’s email newsletters (including Lafayette Today and Campus & Community), and/or social media accounts. Prior to the start of each heritage month, there will be a call for events in Lafayette Today.

To promote your event:

  1. Once you’ve reserved your space, add your event(s) to calendar.lafayette.edu. Then email the calendar URL for the event to Kimberly Weatherly at weatherk@lafayette.edu and Gabby Hochfeld at hochfelg@lafayette.edu.
  2. OID will compile a list of events across campus celebrating each heritage month and share that list with the campus community through Lafayette Today. Example

Have an idea for an event but want to talk through details? Would your department or club like to host something to celebrate a heritage month, but are in the early planning stages? Reach out to intercultural@lafayette.edu to discuss your ideas now.
