In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Office of Intercultural Development (OID) is working on several celebrations in honor of Rev. Martin Luther King.

An MLK March will be held at noon Feb. 8, featuring stops across campus that highlight dedications and tributes to Black faculty, staff, and alumni. Participants will be able to stop by the Gendebien Room, Skillman Library, where Ana RamĂrez Luhrs will present items from the College’s Rare Books and Manuscripts Collection that pertain to Black voices, including one of Frederick Douglass’ first edition books signed by him, and original poems by Phyllis Wheatley. The route and further details will be shared by OID in the coming weeks.

It will be one of several events in February, once students return for the spring semester and the College’s Black History Month celebrations begin.

OID also has an MLK Speaker series slated for February, featuring Angelina Darrisaw, entrepreneur and founder of C-Suite Coach; and Phillip N. Jefferson, vice chair of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
