Facilities Operations will be completing several maintenance projects in the coming weeks:

Week of June 9: Backflow preventative maintenance will take place in all buildings. Facilities Operations staff will flush the water lines after the work is completed, but you may see some sediment in the water; there is no concern. Please run the water for a minute or two until it clears up.

June 9-20: The Marquis sewer line will be replaced, and water to the building will be shut off throughout this time. There will be extensive excavation near the loading dock.

Week of July 8: Fire pump testing will occur in many buildings. Facilities Operations staff will flush the water lines after the work is completed, but you may see some sediment in the water; there is no concern. Please run the water for a minute or two until it clears up.

Sat., July 19 (rain date Sun., July 20): A main campus power shutdown has been scheduled to complete maintenance on the electrical distribution system. The plan is as follows:

  • The electricity to all main campus buildings will be turned off. Local building generators will remain on in certain buildings to maintain vivariums and other research-related projects.
  • Preventative maintenance and repairs will be completed at the electrical substation and in some campus buildings. The planned shutdown will last approximately eight hours (from 7 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). After the maintenance is completed, power will be restored to all buildings.
