Mike Summers, associate vice president-Gateway Career Center, will be leaving Lafayette July 3 after eight years leading the team at Gateway.

He will take a new position with Davidson College as the inaugural chief career officer and executive director of the Betty and B. Frank Matthews II Center for Career Development.

“During Mike’s time at Lafayette, he and his team have worked diligently to put the students at the center of everything they do. It is that guiding principle that defined Mike’s leadership of the Gateway Career Center,” says Sarah Moschenross, vice president-Student Life. “His exceptional team thrived as his vision for the Gateway Career Center materialized, achieving positive results in career education, student development, the advancement of technologies, the expansion of externship and internship funding, and alumni engagement. Mike leaves a legacy of great presence, attending countless events and volunteering his time as a partner to many on campus. Mike’s leadership is the embodiment of what our work can do when we show up.”

Maureen Walz Boehmer, director-special programs, will step in to lead the Gateway team during the transition, as a national search is conducted to find the next leader for the Gateway Career Center this summer.
