The Office of the Provost has introduced an administrative structure which will feature two new associate provost positions that will begin Aug. 1—associate provost of scholarship, research, and academic initiatives and associate provost of academic advising and student success. These positions will join the current associate provost of curriculum, Markus Dubischar, and a new dean of faculty.

This new structure “embraces many practices that have proven effective at different stages of the College’s history while also recognizing some of the positive learning points from the last few years,” says Provost Laura McGrane. “As we work together to ensure that the academic program and mission of Lafayette live at the center of all we do, these newly configured positions will align with those goals.”

These roles in combination with revisions to current positions will provide the academic division with added support and resources for faculty research and scholarship, student advising, professional development and more.

Meghan Masto ’03, associate professor of philosophy, will serve as associate provost of scholarship, research, and academic initiatives beginning Aug. 1.

Tim Laquintano, associate professor of english, will serve as associate provost of academic advising and student success beginning Aug. 1.

Lauren Anderson ’04, James T. Marcus ’50 Scholar and professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering, will serve as the next dean of the faculty beginning Aug. 1. Anderson was named the William Jeffers Director of Engineering in 2022 and served as dean of engineering for the past two years.

Jenn Stroud Rossmann, Baird Professor of Mechanical Engineering will serve as the next William Jeffers Dean of Engineering and director of ABET accreditation, starting Aug. 1.

Ingrid Furniss, dean of the faculty and professor of art history, will step down from her role at the end of July. David Shulman and Lisa Gabel also completed their tenure as academic deans and returned to the faculty on July 1.

In addition, Laura Murray joined the College as the director of Lafayette’s Center for the Integration of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship on July 1. Prior to joining Lafayette, Murray launched the nonprofit GradTLC to promote thriving, learning, and connection across institutions among graduate learners and faculty.

“I am grateful for the commitment that Ingrid, Dave, and Lisa brought to their roles, and honored to partner with this stellar team moving forward,” McGrane notes.
