Following the recent Department of Public Safety email regarding fraudulent text messages targeting students, Lafayette College is taking steps to help our community stay one step ahead of scammers.

To ensure you are prepared to handle the sophisticated vishing (voice) and smishing (SMS) tactics used in the recent parking pass scam, ITS has partnered with InfoSec Institute to provide interactive training. We strongly encourage all students to participate. The module uses simulated scenarios to help you practice identifying and avoiding high-pressure social engineering in real time.

ITS will never contact you by phone to perform emergency patching on your machine or ask for your password.

Next steps:

  • The training will launch Tues., March 10. Look for an email from notifications@infosec-training.lafayette.edu on Tuesday with specific instructions on how to access the module.
  • Completion goal: All participants are encouraged to complete the training by April 3.
