Rob Elliott, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, recently collaborated with artist Tyler Kline on The Solar Moth, an expansive installation on view in Williams Art Gallery. Elliott contributed technical expertise to the project, providing scientific guidance on design parameters, including ecosystem services, growing systems, and artificial lighting. His research focuses on integrating natural systems with the built environment to enhance safety, resilience, and sustainability. He leads the Lab of the Total Ecosystem, a facility of 12 controlled environmental cells designed to study and engineer high-performance ecosystems.
