Monkey

College’s Theater’s performances of Monkey, adapted from the folk novel by Wu Ch’eng-en, will be live-streamed on March 11, 12, and 13 at 7:30 p.m. Recordings will remain available for 48 hours after each performance. Directed by Suzanne Westfall, professor and head of theater.

This Chinese folk epic mixes satire, allegory, and history into a rollicking tale of the roguish Monkey and his encounters with spirits, gods, demigods, demons, ogres, monsters, and fairies. “There is nothing quite like Monkey in Western literature,” declared The Nation.
