Jake Bates will join the Lafayette community as associate director of student involvement/adviser to fraternities and sororities beginning July 12.
Jake comes to Lafayette from Texas and brings a diverse background of experiences including working with college campuses and national Greek organizations. He is a member of Phi Kappa Sigma, where he most recently served as program development coordinator for its international headquarters. Along with serving as a chapter adviser, Jake has advised Interfraternity, Panhellenic, Divine 9, and NPHC councils and worked closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure the success of Greek organizations.
He is passionate about creating inclusive environments and working with student leaders to provide a supportive and engaging Greek life experience. He has created multiple programs focusing on LGBTQ+, anti-racism, and cultural competency and strives to provide a space where all students can have a voice.
Jake holds a master’s in higher education-student affairs and a bachelor’s in psychology from University of North Texas.
