Lizzie Gumula ’22 is directing a performance that reimagines the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.
Most people know the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet. Now it is reimagined in a theatrical adaptation by Joe Calarco and directed for a mainstage performance by Lizzie Gumula ’22. In this version, four young prep school students break out a copy of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and are swept away as they take turns reading the play aloud. They navigate many intersections between the classic tale and their own lives.
The show runs at the Weiss Theater in Buck Hall at the downtown Williams Arts Campus on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The show is intended for mature audiences. Get tickets.
