View the rendering for the Easton/College Hill Hike-Bike Trail. While the Easton/College Hill Escarpment Hike-Bike Trail is under construction, there are alternate transportation options connecting College Hill and Downtown Easton.

Minor clearing work will start on Aug. 22 and signage will be placed saying that the actual trail and steps will close on Aug. 29. Barricades will then be placed prohibiting access to allow for a safe construction zone. Regarding access to downtown, there are the following options in place:
• There is an LCAT Shuttle dedicated to the Arts Campus. It runs weekdays from 8:32 a.m. to 10 p.m. except for Friday when it stops at 4:45pm. MORE
• The College also has a deal with Lanta Bus where students can use it for free with College ID. The 214 Lanta Bus Route runs up and down College avenue approximately every hour. Pickup is under/near 22 overpass and there are stops at every block along Cattell Street. It starts at 6:05 a.m. and stops at 10:29 p.m. MORE

• The Arts Campus is within walking distance from the west side of campus along Sullivan Road past the tennis courts and on the east side of campus on the sidewalk along College Avenue. This is also the suggested route during heavy snow when the Third Street steps are closed.

Are you recommending that walkers cross College Avenue at the base of McCartney St? If so, can a crosswalk and signage be installed? If not, how exactly do you recommend that walkers access the College Avenue sidewalk?

We checked in with those working on the project, and they said: “A crosswalk at the intersection of College Avenue and McCartney Street is being planned, but the College is waiting on PennDOT’s approval as College Avenue is a state road. In the meantime, it’s recommended that pedestrians use other crossing options. If a walker must cross at that location, they should take care in looking before crossing. An alternate option is to take the LCAT Shuttle, which has a stop at McCartney Street and Clinton Terrace.”
