3 steps to help you prepare your externship application
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors: NOW is the time to begin preparing your application for the January 2023 Externship Program. The deadline to apply is 12 p.m. Fri., Oct. 28.

Take the following steps to maximize the strength of your application materials for this competitive program.
Step ONE: Attend an Externship Process Made Easy Session
Join Gateway for one of two live sessions on Oct. 19:
- (Virtual) at 12:15 p.m., Zoom
- (In-person) 4:30 p.m., (Old) Oecshle Hall, Room 224

Step TWO: Get Your Resume Reviewed
- Document Review Days: Email your resume to careers@lafayette.edu from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and get feedback within 24 hours. Thurs., Oct. 20 AND Wed., Oct. 26.
- New to resume writing? Access our Resume Writing webshop here before participating in a Document Review Day.
- If you’re unable to participate in a Document Review Day event, be sure to leverage our Gateway & Go drop-in times with a Gateway counselor:
• 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, 201 Hogg Hall or Zoom
• 2-4 p.m. Fridays, 201 Hogg Hall or Zoom
Step THREE: Gain Support with Your Externship Essay
- College Writing Program – Writing Associates (WAs):
Utilize the WA’s drop-in opportunities. Writing Associates are happy to provide feedback on all types of writing and at any stage of the writing process. Individual conferences are approximately 30 minutes.
*Please watch your email for newly added externships which will be emailed by the end of the day on Fri., Oct. 21. We encourage students to wait to apply to the program until after reviewing these new additions!*
