On Nov. 24, more than ten people were killed in a fire in Ürümqi, Xinjiang and one of the direct causes of their death was the lockdown policy in China that blocked all of their pathways to escape. Since the incident, various groups have held voluntary protests against the Chinese Zero-Covid Policy and the party’s administration.
In response to the tragedies and the protests, we are holding a memorial event which includes a presentation on the lock-down and protest situations in China, in addition to candle lighting, poetry reading, and some music. Candles and masks will be provided on site.
