Hi Coach Melissa!
I’m Jaden, a 17-year-old high school junior who came to the fall 2023 team clinic on September 17th. I wanted to express my interest in the dance team, as I’ll be applying to college, specifically Lafayette, this year! I’m a huge fan of the team, and I loved watching your girls dance and learning with them. I’ve been competitively dancing for almost 10 years now. I’m from New York City, and I dance with my company called Shooting Stars NYC. I’m on 4 teams, and I assistant coach a hip-hop team for younger kids. I’ve been lucky enough to perform halftime for the Nets at Barclays Center two years in a row. I specialize in hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, and precision, but I loved learning pom! My team which I was captain of last year, was the first children’s dance studio in history to perform the opening act for the Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes two years in a row. In April, we will be performing in New Jersey for the NJ Devils. I’m so blessed to have these opportunities, and I can’t wait for my last season. I won first place for my first-ever solo last year, and my teams have consistently won and have been given opportunities to perform at nationals. I am currently learning 6 dances, which we will be competing in late April and early May. Many of my coaches have come from college dance team backgrounds, including the American University Dance Team, the Ohio State Dance Team, and more. Furthermore, I’ve learned from the best, as my other coaches were the Knicks City Dancers and Brooklynettes. I got to learn from coaches who have worked alongside Beyonce and Snoop Dog. I’ve been learning and growing so much over the past few years, and I’m so excited to audition next year! Also, congrats to your team at the UDA competition! I watched both the pom and hip-hop routines, and you all were amazing! Hope to see you soon.
Best,
Jaden Jacoby-Cooper
