This year, Refugee Action’s annual keynote speaker event will feature Noah Habeeb, director of the Ark at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (CBST), which provides legal support to LGBTQ and HIV-positive asylum seekers, as well as many others. Since 2019, the Ark at CBST has served more than 2,000 asylum seekers. Habeeb’s writing has appeared in The Nation, Tikkun, and Truthout. He holds an M.A. in urban and environmental policy and planning from Tufts University, and he previously worked as an Urban Fellow in the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA). Habeeb will be speaking about his experiences and journey working in asylum casework, and discussing future considerations for the next presidential administration. 5–6 p.m. Tues., Nov. 19 • New Oechsle (OCGE), Room 216 • MORE
