Updated Student Education Records Policy (FERPA), new web proxy tool for students

The College has updated and refreshed its Student Education Records Policy (FERPA). The revised policy—which protects the privacy of student education records in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)—is designed to protect the confidentiality of student educational records, give students access to their records, ensure the accuracy of their contents, and grant consent for their disclosure.

The update was the result of a periodic review of a long-standing policy, in accordance with federal law. Compliance with FERPA is an institution-wide responsibility. 

• Updates to the FERPA site are complete and feature expanded definitions and additional FAQs. 
• Students can find the web proxy tool after logging into Banner Self-Service. Additional details on establishing a web proxy will be communicated through Lafayette Today. Guides for students and proxy users will be available on the Banner Self-Service information page.
