As the month of September comes to a close, the anxieties of midterm season begin. However, there are many events you can attend over the next week that can help take a piece of the stress away, such as painting or a night of music. Participate in these events to take a moment for yourself!
- Science Homecoming-Championing Science Through Local Voices: Engage with the Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education for a discussion on Science Homecoming, where scientists return to their hometowns by writing opinion pieces for local newspapers to encourage greater investment in American science. Jennifer Talarico, Marshall R. Metzgar Professor of Psychology and department head, will lead a discussion with Jessica Cantlon, Zdrojkowski Professor of Developmental Neuroscience and Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, who will join virtually, on how science connects to communities and strengthens our shared future. 12:15-1 p.m. Tues., Sept. 30 • RISC 262 • MORE
- Paint Your Culture: Celebrate Latinx culture by participating in a painting event with the Hispanic Society of Lafayette and Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Inc. - Julie Fowlis—Performance Series: Enjoy a night of music featuring Scot Trads Music Awards 2023 “Musician of the Year” Julie Fowlis. With much of Fowlis’ work inspired by Scotland, she is well known for singing the iconic theme song for Disney Pixar’s movie Brave.
