In 1990, the head of the iconic leopard mascot costume had a much more pronounced nose and cartoonish features rather than a fierce yet lovable snarl. Lafayette first adopted the leopard as its college mascot Oct. 22, 1924, by the College’s student council. Since then, the beloved mascot has taken on different names and features throughout the decades, and is now known by all as Roary.
