The International Students Association (ISA) will recognize and celebrate cultures across Lafayette’s campus during the annual ISA Extravaganza, held March 24-29.

“This is a longstanding weeklong celebration of the various cultures that we have represented on campus,” says Janine Block ’94, associate director of International Student Advising and Support. “It was started in 1982 when one of our retired faculty members, Prof. Rado Pribic, hired external performers to come and share different dances and musical performances on campus. Over time, it’s grown into this weeklong event, but it’s purely student-led now.”

This year, seven different events will be held including a poetry reading, fashion show, international food tasting, along with so much more. Each of the activities will be held in coordination with other organizations including Skillman Library, International Affairs Department, Salsa Club, and many others.

Paolo Garcia ’27, president of ISA, says the events during Extravaganza offer the perspective of multicultural groups and students on campus.

“I think the goal is always to come out with greater self-awareness of the cultures that are represented on this campus,” Garcia says.
