Caroline Lee, professor of sociology, presented at a symposium at the JHU Bloomberg Center in Washington, D.C., in March called “Bringing the People Back In: Race, Class, and Inequality in U.S. Politics.” The symposium convened leading scholars and political practitioners to discuss U.S. democracy and the roles that academics and practitioners can play in resisting authoritarianism and strengthening democratic institutions. Lee was the featured academic on a panel with Lindsay Owens, executive director of the economic think tank Groundwork Collaborative, and Beth Baltzan, deputy director of the Coalition for New Trade. She shared insights from research conducted with EXCEL Scholar Bernadette Holm ’27.
