Every month, Student Government will host at least one town hall for students. Each town hall will have a theme, and speakers will be invited to discuss resources available to students relating to that theme. Student Government aims to bridge the gap among the student body, faculty, staff, and administration by encouraging attendees to engage in dialogue and pose questions at the town hall meetings.
The first town hall of this semester was held on Sept. 3 with guest speakers Vice President Diorio, Provost Meier, and Vice President O’Keefe. Emphasizing engagement with the audience helped us gauge the concerns of students, and our speakers shared information on a variety of IT, academic, and campus life resources. You can watch the recording.
The theme of our next town hall is “health,” which is not only timely but also crucial for students on campus and remote! We are very excited to have Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Garrison join us as our guest speakers. It is scheduled from 7-8 p.m. on Oct. 1. Registration is open on OurCampus.
Dr. Goldstein is director of Bailey Health Center and College physician. Dr. Garrison is director of the Counseling Center and a licensed psychologist. Looking after our mental and physical health has become more important than ever, and as college students, it is critical to be informed about the resources offered and the interactions we engage in.
This Thursday’s town hall gives students the opportunity to engage directly with Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Garrison about the health of students not only centered around the pandemic but also looking at some long-term goals. We look forward to hearing all the exciting and critical questions on your mind about students’ mental and physical health. Sign up now!
