Hello from Lafayette Dining Services!

We’ve been hard at work since the semester began making sure our campus community is fed, and fed safely. We’ve implemented COVID-19 safety training for our teams, social distancing and sanitation measures in all of our open locations on campus, and safety coasters to help guests identify when tables have been sanitized. We also rolled out a new mobile ordering app, Transact Campus, to facilitate contactless payment and meal pick-up.

Since we sadly haven’t had the degree of in-person interaction that we usually do with students, faculty, and staff, we want to take this opportunity to pass along an update on what we’ve been up to.

The Trolley Stop DinerThe Trolley Stop Diner

Construction is finishing up on our newest location at the corner of March Street and McCartney Street, The Trolley Stop Diner, with a projected opening date during the spring semester. The Trolley Stop will bring a full restaurant experience to the campus dining program, offering classic diner breakfasts, pub fare, avocado toasts, signature sandwiches, and customizable power bowls.  We’re excited to share more details with you in the coming months!

New hours at Lower

Starting on Friday, Lower Farinon’s hours will be 11 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.

We understand there’s some confusion about how to choose a payment method on the new Transact mobile ordering app. This graphic shows how to make payments.

Chef Appreciation Week

We’ve been celebrating our hardworking, dedicated culinarians throughout this year’s #ChefAppreciationWeek. We created an interview series to help you get to know our team better—check out our Instagram account or Facebook page to read the interviews.

LaFarm Tour

Despite a limited student presence and only a few open dining locations on campus, we’ve continued to prioritize local sourcing as much as possible–especially from LaFarm, where Lisa Miskelly, assistant director of food and farm, and student staff members have continued to grow food throughout the summer. Our culinary team recently joined Lisa for a socially distanced walking tour around LaFarm and got to see firsthand where the ingredients they source every week are grown. It was a great opportunity for our team to get out of the kitchen and into the field.

Recipes ideas from Dining Services

With autumn almost upon us, we’ve been getting excited for more hearty cold weather meals! An incredibly convenient and versatile way to get a taste of fall’s bounty is to combine plants and protein together on a sheet pan and throw it right in the oven! We love roasting root vegetables and winter squash like delicatas and butternuts especially. Read some fantastic sheet pan recipes.

Reminder: Our hours of operation are online.
