Dear Colleagues:

I hope that you all had a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving break. This year, I am especially grateful for our community’s continued hard work in the face of the unprecedented challenges we have faced together.

I am pleased to share two pieces of news that I hope will add cheer to the season. The first is that we will benefit from a one-month “premium holiday” for health insurance this month. No medical insurance premiums will be deducted from faculty or staff paychecks during December. This benefit, which comes on top of the overall premium decrease of 1 percent for the 2021 calendar year previously announced, reflects the outstanding work done by VP Leslie Muhlfelder and her HR team in partnering with Capital Blue Cross to share part of the financial burden that COVID-19 has placed on our employees and the College.

And second, as a small gesture of thanks for your hard work throughout the semester, we are pleased to announce that another winter recess day has been added to the upcoming holiday schedule. We will be closed on Dec. 23, and will begin our holiday break at the close of business on Dec. 22.  The College will reopen on Jan. 4. See the revised holiday schedule. We hope that you can use this time to step back from the computer and enjoy the start of winter break.

Many thanks for all that you do to support our students and the College.

Sincerely,
Alison Byerly
