A piece of stone fell from the facade of the building facing Hamilton Street early Tuesday. There were no injuries. Facilities Operations blocked off the sidewalk, and a masonry engineer evaluated the situation. Water infiltration over time had rusted one of the anchors holding the stone in place. Although it does not appear to be a systemic issue throughout the exterior wall, other stones do need repair.
A scaffold will be installed over the sidewalk to allow it to re-open. Following Commencement, the entire side of the building will have scaffolding, and repairs will be made.
