As you are aware, construction on the new Markle Hall parking deck and entrance is well underway. As excavation sequences progress, we are challenged to remove various obstacles with construction. One of these obstacles involves the electrical service for Markle Hall. Therefore, on Sun., Feb. 27, the electricity will be shut off at 6 a.m. for the following buildings: Markle Hall, Kirby House, Grossman House, 635 High St., McKeen Hall, Gates Hall, Soles Hall, Hogg Hall, Bailey Health Center, and Williams Center for the Arts.

We recommend shutting off your computers and other sensitive electrical devices prior to the shutdown. Facilities Operations is making some provisions to provide temporary power where it is feasible to do so. Please note the following:

  • Kirby House, Grossman House, 635 High St.: Will have full-service temporary portable power during the outage. Occupants will have adequate power for normal activities.
  • McKeen Hall, Gates Hall, Soles Hall: Will have full-service temporary portable power during the outage. Occupants will have adequate power for normal activities. However the laundry at Soles Hall will be closed for the duration of the outage.
  • Markle Hall: Will be without power for the duration of the shutdown.
  • Bailey Health Center: Will have emergency generator power only. Occupants of the first floor will have adequate power for normal activities. The second floor will have reduced electrical capacity.
  • William Center for the Arts, Hogg Hall: Will have emergency generator power for health and safety systems only.

Normal power will be restored to all of the affected buildings by 3 p.m. Sun., Feb. 27.
