This is the week to learn about and celebrate the achievements of women in STEM!

There are events coordinated by the Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education taking place every day from April 4-8:

Monday, April 4, 6-8 p.m., Limberg Theater, Farinon Student Center
Screening of the film Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzahkani.
Hosted by the Kovalevsky Society. Discussion will follow the film.

Tuesday, April 5 at 12:15 p.m., RISC 362
A Conversation about Reflections from Pioneering Women in Psychology
Come learn about an exciting new volume co-edited by Dean of the Faculty, Professor Jamila Bookwala, entitled Reflections from Pioneering Women in Psychology. This book provides insights and reflections from women who have had major impacts on psychology and, more broadly, on academia in general, including a chapter by Lafayette’s Dana Professor Emeritus, Susan Basow. Come hear from Dean Bookwala and her co-editor, Professor Nicky Newton (Wilfrid Laurier University), along with Professor Basow, about how this book came about, what they learned, and what the takeaways are. Co-hosted by the Hanson Center and the Psychology Department. Boxed lunches will be provided.

Women in STEM Tea
Hosted by TriBeta, the Biology Honor Society, and LEADERS. Come interact with women and non-binary faculty in STEM. Pizza will be provided.

Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m., RISC 460
Putting the Puzzle Together: Your Academic Journey in STEM
This workshop for students—led by the Co-Directors of the Hanson Center, Professors Jenn Rossmann and Wendy Hill—will help you explore the role of women and non-binary individuals in STEM on your own leadership and academic journey. Come learn how “predecessors, instigators, and inheritors” have had an impact on you and explore how their connectedness is critical when examining gender justice in STEM leadership. Snacks will be provided.

Society of Women Engineers Lunch
Hosted by SWE, come interact and celebrate the final day of Women in STEM week with women and non-binary faculty in engineering. Lunch will be provided.
