Last week, a team from the Office of Sustainability weighed student food waste from lunch in Marquis. With an average of .15 lbs. of waste per person, student food waste from just lunch in Upper and Marquis could feed 100 more people a meal every day.

The Office of Sustainability encourages students to only take what they can eat and remember that food waste generates more waste than food alone. All the water and energy that went into production, transport, and packaging is wasted too! Reducing food waste is an actionable climate change solution we can all do!
