Each summer, the College schedules a main campus power shutdown to complete maintenance on the electrical distribution system. The plan is as follows:
There will be an electrical maintenance outage Sat., July 22. The electricity to all main campus buildings will be turned off. The planned shutdown will last approximately 12 hours (from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
Local building generators will remain on in certain buildings to maintain vivariums and other research-related projects. Preventative maintenance and repairs will be completed at the electrical substation and in many campus buildings. This year the primary aerial switches in the substation are being replaced, which will require some additional time. After the maintenance is completed, power will be restored to all buildings.
