UPDATE: This presentation has been rescheduled to Thurs., Nov. 9, at 4:15 p.m.

Michelle Smith, Ann S. Bowers Professor of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education at Cornell University, will speak about her scholarship on “Undergraduate Research and Field Experiences: What are Students Engaging In and Learning?” at 4:15 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 14 in Hugel 100.

This talk will highlight what is currently known about student learning outcomes during research and field experiences in STEM, and discuss new approaches to measuring critical thinking, student affect, and the connections students make with their peers and mentors. These results can be used to provide practical advice to instructors, including ways to promote equity and inclusion during these experiences.

Smith is the Hanson Center Visiting Scholar for AY 23-24.
