A World of Data Speaker Series • In this virtual talk, Ahmer Arif from the School of Information at UT Austin will discuss how to understand the ways social media platforms are used to intentionally spread misleading information, and what researchers, educators, and designers might do to address this. Drawing on examples from his ongoing research into disinformation campaigns, he will explore the nuances of the issues and undo four commonly held misconceptions about how they will work.
