Hanson Center Visiting Scholar, Michelle Smith (Cornell University), will speak on Undergraduate Research & Field Experiences: What Are Students Engaging In & Learning? 4:15 p.m. Thurs. Nov. 9 in Hugel 100.

This talk will highlight what is currently known about student learning outcomes during research and field experiences in STEM, and discuss new approaches to measuring critical thinking, student affect, and the connections students make with their peers and mentors. Results can be used to provide practical advice to instructors, including ways to promote equity and inclusion during these experiences. A workshop and dinner for faculty/staff will follow the talk: contact Wendy Hill if interested in attending the session after the presentation.
